The week of the 15th was crazy at Causa. Our SB 833 bill that would give driver's cards to over 80,000 people in Oregon that currently cannot get a driver's license, was voted on by the Joint Ways and Means Committee. We had 17 legislative meetings in two days to check in with legislators that were either leaning yes or leaning no votes. It was very important that we meet with them for a second time to assure that our vote count was accurate for Friday's committee vote.
On Thursday, the subcommittee of Joint Ways and Means met and passed the bill. Then on Friday morning, the entire committee met and our bill was yet again passed. It was very exciting to see that the 3 months worth of work was paying off at the legislature. I am eager and hopeful to see that the bill will continue moving forward.
