April at Cupcake Couture

Hello lovely interns!

It is definitely looking like spring at Cupcake Couture and I could not be more excited. I love spring and summer colors much more than fall and winter. Too much black in the fall and winter! So you could imagine how much fun it has been to receive all the new merchandise from LA in the past couple weeks.

There has been a ton of traffic coming in and out of the store the past couple shifts I have worked so it has been making the time fly by. I cannot believe how much of the new merchandise is flying out of the door. It has been crazy, but an awesome learning experience.

I am currently working on a buying project for next fall for our two primary lines, BB Dakota and Jack. This has been one of my most favorite things because I eventually would like to be a buyer for a company. I like to receive feedback from my roommates and peers on what they would like to see the store carry so that has been a definite learning experience. I had no idea how difficult it could be buying for a store because you want the products to sell and make a profit. You almost have to do a little bit of trend forecasting, which is exciting.

I'm also in contact with a woman about the fashion show coming up at the end of the month and I think that will be a great experience to partake in. I plan on completely taking on the project on my own iniative and seeing the project through to the end! And hopefully exciting result!
