These past few weeks have been packed with make up hours since we are getting close to the end, as well as preparing for the internship presentation. So far this month, I have logged in 27 hours with possible hours to be recorded on Thursday. This has been a fun experience so far. I'm seeing different injuries rather than just should injures as well as doing more in the gym watching rather than folding laundry in the laundry room. Thinking over the past few months of what I have learned from this experience I would have to say I've learned a decent amount of material. Skills I have learned are placement of electrodes, set up of ice and electrical stimulation (e-stim) on the body, how to clean rooms, disinfecting techniques after each patient, how to listen to the patient describe their pain in order to diagnose injury, different exercises used to strength injured area, and last but not least, how to fold towels properly. This will be a tough next couple weeks in trying to finish these hours and find time to write the 4-6 page paper that's due at the end of the term. I think I can do it, (with a lot of stress that lies ahead of me).

May Day rally and march
On May 1st Causa had its annual May Day march and rally. This year the march was very special because we were celebrating two grand victories for the Latino immigrant community: the passage of not one, but TWO bills! The first was tuition equity and the second is the driver's card bill. We created history on May 1st when the Governor came to the rally and signed the driver's card bill in front of the 3,000 people who were present. It was incredible and so inspiring to see what our immigrant rights movement has accomplished! Both bills took many years to pass, tuition equity took over 10 years and the driver's card took almost 4 years. Witnessing the movement's leaders and allies sit next to the Governor as he signed the bill was just extraordinary, it truly was a special and memorable moment for me.
Most of the legislators that are our allies and who supported the bill stood behind the Governor watching as he signed it. I think it was good that the legislators were part of the rally so they could see the support in the community for the bill. It's always important to put a face to an issue so one is able to put it into perspective.
At the rally, I was honored to be one of the key note speakers. I was asked to speak about where we have come, our accomplishments, and where we are going as far as our goals. I was very nervous because every other speaker is very charismatic and able to get the crowd excited when they speak. I am an introvert and don't like public speaking very much. Although I am passionate about the work I have been doing it is always intimidating to speak in Spanish in front of 3,000 native speakers. I think I did a good job though, I was able to get the crowd to chant along with me and was told by people that they liked my speech. All in all, it was a great day!

LeaderCast Event
Hey all!
Friday is the big day! Well... One of them anyway.
On Friday morning we will be heading over to Spirit Mountain Casino for the day to watch the Broadcast of Chick-fil-a Leadercast 2013. McMinnville Chamber of Commerce and Newberg Chamber of Commerce paired up to host this event at the casino, and we ended up on selling all but 4 tickets this year. That is a huge improvement from last year! It has been a tad stressful planning this all while I have been in school, but it has been a great experience. Also, since everything was finished (for the most part) I will be able to watch the event.
Next up... Turkey Trot! :)

Nearing the End!
Well it looks like we're nearing the end of our internships!
I have to say I'm a little sad, but excited because Sam has offered me a job to work at Cupcake Couture, so my fun can continue!
I've learned so much and I can't even believe it. I had the opportunity to learn a ton about merchandising, pricing, buying, and displays. We've had an awesome spring and I've probably spent way too much at Cupcake Couture, but I cannot get enough of the clothes.
It's been great for all my sorority sisters to be able to come in and visit me while I help them pick out clothes and make them look fabulous of course!
I've made some great relationships with the ladies at Cupcake and also the ladies at La Bella Casa, they're kind of like my crazy aunts in my Linfield family that I've created here at school! I will be sad to leave them in December! But I get to spend all summer with them so that will be an awesome time.
Saturday is Spring Fling on Third Street and I suggest everyone come down and check it out! Bring your moms and get an automatic 10% discount at Cupcake Couture and there is also 30% off our Jack and BB Dakota brands! There will also be lemonade, cookies, and old men serenading and giving out carnations! And plus it will be a beautiful weekend to roam Third Street!
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and working hard!
